This part of the research zooms in onto the emergence, and diffusion of the most prominent (social, technological and institutional) innovations, and the way they are used in mobilization activities. The aim is to come to a detailed understanding of how new ideas and practices have emerged, become part of local GI activities, circulated and gained influence. Prominent innovative ideas/practices were selected and explored in terms of their emergence, proliferation, and evolution, using the ANT vocabulary of translation, articulation, circulation and stabilization. We examined the way these innovations were used in mobilizations activities of GIs and their associations/networks. A key issue is the nurturing of ‘choice awareness’ for alternative approaches as part of energy transition advocacy.
