This part of the project presents an integration of the previous projects in view of one core challenge: the achievement of a technically balanced renewable energy system. The aims is to explore the interplay of technological, social and political aspects of the local energy system, and the key role of GIs within it and to assess the possibilities for further GI involvement through the application of the ‘Innovative democracy’ and ‘Choice awareness’ approaches in overcoming major resistances and bottlenecks in the energy system development. Particular attention is paid to the local possibilities and inventions, and sometimes struggles and negotiations (everyday politics) concerning the adoption and development of ways of thinking and working, and network and mobilization strategies. Policy advice was designed and discussed with local policy makers and other actors in the local renewable energy system.
